Mobile Devices and Exchange

Potter Clarkson employees are permitted to use a mobile device such as an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to connect to our corporate Exchange server for Email, Calendaring and Contacts. However, doing so does result in potentially sensitive company data being held on your device, and should you lose or have it stolen this information could be accessed by another person.

Remote Wipe

Although we would always recommend that you set a 'Passcode Lock' on your device, this is not currently enforced by policy. But, in the event that your device is lost, it is possible to remotely wipe all data from it using Outlook Web Access without the requirement to contact the IT Department.

Outlook Web Access

Once inside Outlook click on the Options menu from the toolbar.

Click on Mobile Devices from the left hand menu.

You should now see your lost device listed, and you can click on 'Wipe All Data...' to remotely reset it back to the factory default settings.

You will be asked to confirm this action.

Outlook Web Access

When you click OK a remote wipe signal will be sent to your device, this may happen immediately or when it is next switched on.

You will also receive a confirmation email from the Exchange Server.

Warning: Once the wipe command has been issued, Apple devices will become unusable until they are re-synced with iTunes.

Please feel free to contact the IT Department should you have any questions about using personal smart phones or other devices to access information on the Exchange server.
