Consultant - Trade Mark Attorney

Sanjay is a highly respected trade mark attorney who has extensive experience acting for a wide range of clients across a variety of sectors. He is a member of the firm's board of management and has been a partner since 1998.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA), sits on its council and is a member of its education, policy and development committee. He was previously chair of CITMA’s education and training committee (2010-2013), and during this time he oversaw the introduction of the university-based examination system for trade mark attorney qualification in the UK.  

Sanjay has lectured and presented papers in the UK and abroad and on behalf of the firm, CITMA and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation). Passionate about supporting the next generation of talent, Sanjay also regularly lectures to students seeking to qualify as a trade mark attorneys.  

He joined Potter Clarkson in 1990 and qualified as a registered trade mark attorney in 1993. He joined Unilever plc in 1995 as Trade Marks Manager in their Corporate Trade Marks Department and returned to Potter Clarkson in 1997.

Interests

Sanjay has a keen interest in music and has followed the rock group New Order since the mid-1980s. He follows them on tour in the UK and overseas – work and family commitments allowing. He is also a football fan and supports Leeds United. Sanjay enjoys cycling and keeping fit. He is married with three children.
