Why Nottingham?
When you live and work in Nottingham, you'll find yourself in a lively, vibrant city that's filled with contemporary culture and ancient history, a surprising mix of cosmopolitan and countryside.
You'll already know it as home to legends like Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham. But it's also spawned such diverse talent as ice skaters Torvill and Dean, literary heavyweights Lord Byron and D H Lawrence and fashion designer Paul Smith. Plus, it's the setting for many films by acclaimed director Shane Meadows.
Big businesses love Nottingham, and the city was the birthplace of household names Boots and Raleigh. Capital One, Experian and Rolls-Royce also each have a major presence in and around the city.
If you like to eat out, then you're in for a treat. Nottingham is packed with restaurants and eateries, from fine dining at Hart's, World Service and Sat Bains (complete with a Michelin star) to exquisite curries from Memsaab and 4550 Miles from Delhi. A big multiplex and an arts cinema are on hand for film buffs, or you can enjoy repertory productions, opera, drama and ballet at our two theatres. Music venues include the modern concert hall and the TrentFM Arena, with smaller, more intimate gigs at a host of other venues.
Sports fans can choose from a range of activities. Our sporting arenas include Nottingham Forest and Notts County Football Clubs, the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, the Nottingham Tennis Centre and the National Ice Centre. If you prefer walking, there are lots of country parks in Nottinghamshire, including Wollaton Park, Sherwood Forest, and Newstead Abbey, plus you're just a short drive from the Peak District.
There's excellent choice for shoppers, too, with designer boutiques, department stores and traditional markets all on hand in the city centre.
Travelling to and from Nottingham is easy as well; the train station serves most major destinations, East Midlands and Birmingham airports are close to hand, and it's just a short hop to the M1.
