GEIC-Potter Clarkson Intellectual Property Workshop

29 May 2019 in Manchester

Potter Clarkson is holding the second of a series of workshops on intellectual property at the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC). Potter Clarkson is an official affiliate partner of the GEIC, and is a full-service European IP law firm of patent and trade mark attorneys and IP solicitors. Further information can be found on the Potter Clarkson website.
Since graphene was first isolated at the University of Manchester in 2004, the graphene and 2d materials industry has grown from strength to strength, but there continues to be challenges and opportunities in identifying new commercially viable production methods and applications, as the industry approaches the tipping point for these unique materials.
One of the main advantages of graphene and 2d materials is its applicability across a wide range of fields. Of these fields, composites is anticipated to be one of the many high growth areas for graphene and 2d materials in the near future, especially in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Intellectual property (IP) rights are fundamental to the successful commercialisation of innovative technology, and is crucial in protecting businesses from competitors. Our attorneys, Jason Teng, Craig Brownlie and David Carling, will be discussing IP issues and opportunities in the field of graphene and 2d material-based composites before delving into real-life patent case studies. Any specific IP questions can be sent to our dedicated e-mail address below in advance of the workshop.
The contents of the workshop will be principally technical and geared towards scientists, engineers and anyone else working with technical subject-matter on a regular basis. Although the workshop will be centred on graphene and 2d material-based composites, we also welcome those working with other types of composites to join us.
The workshop will be followed by complimentary one-to-one meetings with Potter Clarkson attorneys from 12:30 pm onwards. Advance bookings of the one-to-one meetings are recommended.
If you have any questions relating to the workshop or would like to arrange a one-to-one meeting, please email Jason Teng at enquiries-geic@potterclarkson.com.
