Esmé Swindells

Esmé Swindells

Senior Associate - Patent Attorney

Esmé has considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as preparing patent oppositions and conducting freedom to operate and due diligence investigations related to a wide variety of patents in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields.

She has vast experience in managing and prosecuting global patent portfolios which has seen her handle national and international applications before the European Patent Office (EPO), and other major jurisdictions such as Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan and the US. Esmé particularly enjoys assessing a business’s commercial objectives and their innovation to subsequently formulate IP strategies that closely align the two to ensure their maximum potential and value can be achieved.

As well as working with companies to obtain their intellectual property rights, Esmé often works with investors to perform IP due diligence on companies they are interested in investing in. This experience has been invaluable and has allowed Esmé to learn what investors are looking for in a company and use this knowledge to help start-up companies when preparing for investment rounds.
