Partner - Patent Attorney

Helen is an experienced patent attorney, regularly advising clients of all sizes on IP strategy issues such as global filing strategies and is adept at handling due diligence exercises. She is also highly skilled in the design field, dealing with all aspects of design protection, both registered and unregistered.

While she works with clients of all sizes, she has worked with many academic institutions and associated technology transfer departments, as well as spin-out companies.

Helen represents clients at hearings including opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO) and has been involved in litigation before the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC).

Prior to joining Potter Clarkson in 2001, Helen worked in-house as the deputy head of the patents department at Reckitt Benckiser. Before that, she worked at British Telecommunications plc and Marconi Research Centre, as well as another UK firm of patent attorneys.

Education

Helen gained a BSc (Hons) from Imperial College and an MBA with distinction from Leeds University.

When not working, Helen enjoys spending time with her family as well as tennis, skiing and knitting.
