Based in Potter Clarkson’s Copenhagen office, Mattias is a highly skilled patent attorney.

With a strong background in medical research after reading molecular biomedicine at the University of Copenhagen, before completing his PhD in basic metabolic research at the same institution, Mattias has particular expertise in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications before the EPO and Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO), and strategic advice relating to building patent portfolios to support growing businesses. 

Mattias also advises clients on patent strategy and commercialisation, including the highly specialist area of supplementary protection certificates and paediatric extensions.



Gene technology, cell biology, immunology and onco-immunology, metabolism, endocrinology, antibodies, protein chemistry, fermentation, small molecules, green tech, food and feed tech, data exclusivity, and orphan drug status; and freedom-to-operate analysis 


Mattias read molecular biomedicine at the University of Copenhagen before completing his PhD in basic metabolic research at the same institution. His research focused on the role of lysine deacetylases in inflammation and cellular signalling, where he explored the potential for using known and novel small compounds in the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus. Mattias has also done research related to gastric cancer and in regulation of ion channels.

He passed the pre-EQE in 2018 and qualified as a Certified Danish Patent Agent in November of the same year.
