Fiona is an experienced patent attorney and handles a wide variety of work in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology fields. The majority of Fiona’s work involves working with UK clients, and she therefore has extensive experience in developing and implementing IP strategies that are aligned with commercial objectives. Described in the latest edition of IAM300 as ‘collaborative, insightful, intelligent, innovative and fun’, those are the core values she applies throughout her work.

Fiona deliberately tries to avoid becoming too focused in a particular sector, believing that the underlying principles of implementing an IP strategy can be applied across many industries, and to business of varying sizes. That said, Fiona is recognised for her expertise in pharmaceutical life cycle management in particular obtaining Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) and Patent Term Extensions for approved drugs in a number of jurisdictions worldwide. She also has a particular interest in second medical use patents, and has helped a number of clients achieve commercial success with re-purposed drugs.

In 2017, Fiona was recognised as one of Management Today’s ’35 under 35′ for her accomplishments in intellectual property. Fiona has successfully guided clients in the Pharmaceutical industries through multiple fund-raising rounds and partnering successes, helping them raise well in excess of £300 million in investment over the past few years alone.

Fiona specialises in drug repurposing, dosage regimens, new chemical entities, protein engineering, electrochemistry.

Fiona studied Natural Sciences specialising in Chemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Cambridge, Gonville and Caius College.

Fiona has qualifications/memberships in M.Sci, MA (Cantab), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents, Registered UK and European Patent Attorney, Member of AIPLA and FICPI.

Fiona has been recognised in IAM1000 and IAM strategy 300 and Legal 500.
After skydiving competitively for a number of years, Fiona now enjoys less extreme sports such as cycling and horse-riding. Fiona is also a keen cook and a fine wine enthusiast having blended several barrels of wine in Bordeaux.
