BSc (Hons) from Imperial College, MBA, CEDR accredited Mediator, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, European Patent Attorney, Registered UK and European Trade Mark Attorney, Patent Attorney Litigator.
After returning to university and gaining an MBA with distinction from Leeds University, Helen took up the position of Deputy Head of the Patents Department at Reckitt Benckiser before joining Potter Clarkson in January 2001. Prior to studying for her MBA, Helen had worked for British Telecommunications plc, and another UK firm of Patent Attorneys.
Since joining Potter Clarkson, Helen has specialised in a wide range of technologies within the mechanical, electro-optical, electro-mechanical and materials areas, with a particular emphasis on medical devices. Helen also has extensive experience in the design field, dealing with all aspects of design protection, both registered and unregistered. In addition, Helen represents clients at hearings including opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and has been involved in litigation before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. Helen also regularly advises clients on IP strategy issues such as global filing strategies and has been involved in due diligence exercises. She also has extensive experience of working with academic institutions and associated technology transfer departments, as well as spin-out companies.
