Ray has over 25 years' experience in patent prosecution in computer technology, information systems and software applied in a wide range of technical fields such as telecommunication systems, networks, storage devices, cryptography, medical physics and automation of business processes. He has represented many national and multinational clients in various areas of medical device technology, including cardiac rhythm management systems, resuscitation equipment, ultrasound systems, MRI systems and implantable devices, and in semiconductor / optical device technologies. He has substantial experience of opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office in these and other technical fields. Ray has also acted for a number of successful start-up companies to define and develop patenting strategies and new patent portfolios and has 15 years' experience in patenting electrochemical fuel cell technologies.
Ray read Physics at Southampton University. He acquired substantial industrial experience working a number of years for a major electronics company in research, development and production of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits, before joining Potter Clarkson in 1990. He became a Partner in 1998 and is a former member of the Board of Management.
Ray was listed in IAM 1000 World's leading patent professionals 2016.
