How did you get involved and what first attracted you to your chosen field?
After completing an internship at a local company, I got a real taste for the financial controller role. This led to me starting the CIMA qualification, which I have now recently completed.
When did you join Potter Clarkson and why?
I joined the firm in 2018 in pursuit of career growth in a larger business. One of the main attractions of the role was the clear development path the firm outlined from the outset.
Potter Clarkson has a unique and interesting service offering and gave me the ideal opportunity to gain experience in a very different business after coming from a manufacturing background.
What is your area of speciality and why did you choose it?
What does a typical day in your role entail and what do you most enjoy about it/find most challenging?
This is a hugely varied role where no two days are the same. Typically, my working week entails advising on firmwide projects, creating, analysing & distributing financial reports and managing the wider finance team.
I particularly enjoy the variety of tasks involved, working on the delivery of new software packages and working alongside the accounts team. The most challenging aspect is definitely managing the great variety of tasks that come with this important role!
What has been the highlight of your career at Potter Clarkson so far?
Being promoted to Financial Controller from Management Accountant and successfully recruiting several members of the current finance team.
