Senior Associate - Trade Mark Attorney

Harrison is an experienced and dedicated trade mark attorney, providing commercially-focused advice for both emerging and established brands. Harrison has clients in a wide variety of industries, including cryptocurrency, the music industry, mobile technology and accessories, logistics and fashion. He particularly enjoys providing effective IP strategies for growing companies with an interest in exporting into new markets.

He joined Potter Clarkson’s trade mark team in 2015, qualified as a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney in 2017, and was promoted to senior associate in January 2022.

Recently he has been working as part of a team advising Vision Express, regarding clearance searches, filing strategy and contentious matters, for a very significant (and ongoing) advertising campaign (Marvin the Mole).

A particular area of specialism is making written and oral submissions in ex parte proceedings in the UK and EU. Since March 2020, he has been a co-author of Chapter 7 of The CITMA and CIPA European Union Trade Mark Handbook, “Approaches to Countering Objections under Article 7(1)”.

 

Specialisms

Trade mark prosecution and portfolio management; contentious UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) and European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) proceedings such as opposition, invalidation and revocation actions; trade mark infringement matters in the UK and EU.

Education

Harrison studied law at De Montfort University and obtained a master’s degree in European law (LLM), from the University of Nottingham.

Qualifications

BA (Hons), LLM, Chartered Trade Mark Attorney. Harrison has also obtained the CIPA Patent Administration qualification.

Interests

Harrison is a keen cook and a wannabe wine connoisseur. He also loves a good debate on anything and everything, regularly attending talks on today's political, cultural and moral dilemmas.
