Senior Associate - Patent Attorney

Peter is a patent attorney specialising in the pharmaceutical and chemical fields; his main areas of interest include small molecule pharmaceuticals, biocides, medical treatments, and process chemistry.

He has a wide range of experience in patent drafting, national patent prosecution, due diligence, portfolio management, and oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office.

Peter read Chemistry at the University of Warwick and obtained a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the same institution. After gaining experience as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Nottingham, Peter honed his expertise in the pharmaceutical industry by spending five years as a medicinal chemist at a global contract research organisation. He joined Potter Clarkson in October 2015.

Education

Peter read chemistry at Warwick University before completing his PhD in organic chemistry at the same institution. His research focused on developing new methodologies for the synthesis of heterocycles and featured a placement at Schering-Plough.
