Charlotte handles patent applications relating to a wide range of chemical and healthcare inventions including chemical processes, new chemical entities, composite materials, polymer materials, pharmaceutical formulations, antimicrobial and consumer products, and catalysts. In addition to extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, Charlotte has experience of oral proceedings before the European Patent Office including opposition proceedings and has been involved with due diligence exercises for financing procedures. She works with businesses of various sizes and undertakes global patent portfolio management for a number of clients and regularly advises on patent strategy. Her clients are based around the world.
Charlotte is heavily involved with developing and maintaining Potter Clarkson's business relationships in Asia and regularly travels to China and other Asian countries. She is a regular attendee at AIPPI. She has provided seminars to companies in countries including China, Korea and Taiwan on European and UK patent law and strategies for protecting inventions in Europe. She acts for several large Korean companies and Chinese pharmaceutical companies and universities. She has worked with the China Britain Business Council and the Department for International Trade providing information to British organisations on intellectual property in China.
Charlotte obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University College London, before going on to complete a PhD in Organometallic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. She joined the patent profession in 1994 and worked in private practice in London before joining Potter Clarkson in 2000.
Charlotte was listed in the IAM 1000 World’s Leading Patent Professionals list for 2016 and is listed as an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property for 2017.
