Camilla Kiørboe
Camilla advises start-ups, SMEs, corporates and venture capitalists (VCs) across sectors including food, agriculture, biosolutions, molecular biology and cell biology. Drawing on her experience with both corporates and VCs, she understands what they value and uses that insight to help early-stage companies secure investment and meet commercial goals.
Camilla advises clients of all sizes on intellectual property (IP) strategy to support innovation, commercialisation and investment. She specialises in helping early-stage companies identify IP, develop their strategy and prepare for funding. She also supports investors with IP due diligence and, following investment, works with portfolio companies to develop their IP portfolios and strategy.
Much of her work focuses on companies whose innovations lead to technologies that benefit both people and the planet. These businesses use advances in biotechnology to tackle sustainability challenges, promote healthier ecosystems, reduce waste and build a more sustainable future.
Camilla has significant experience working with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and algae, particularly in the development of probiotics, biopesticides and alternative protein sources. She also has expertise in depositing microorganisms, as well as in process and fermentation technology.
Working with functional ingredients in foods and feed, Camilla advises on how to navigate the complex interplay between labelling requirements (pharmaceutical, health and nutritional claims) and the development of IP portfolios that take these requirements into account.
Camilla is passionate about educating others on the importance and commercial value of IP. She regularly delivers talks and workshops for clients, accelerator programmes and universities, including the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University.
In 2020, she was appointed as an expert judge by the Borgarting Court of Appeal and served in a patent case that year.

How We Live Our Values: Excellence
Clarity has always been at the core of my approach, whether in communication, collaboration or problem-solving. By communicating clearly, openly and honestly, I make complex ideas and information easier for clients to understand and act upon.
My straightforward approach and ability to encourage open conversations have helped clients navigate challenges more effectively and focus on what truly matters.
I apply this same commitment to clarity when mentoring and facilitating transparent discussions with clients and stakeholders. At its core, clear communication is essential to achieving the highest standards, delivering the excellence our clients rely on, and helping them succeed.
In My Own Words
I am captivated by the intersection of science and law. Throughout my career, I have seen how scientific breakthroughs can change lives, but also how vulnerable those innovations can be without the right protection. That awareness has shaped how I work with clients. Each one brings unique challenges. It is a privilege to work through those with them, to understand their science, anticipate future obstacles and help shape the IP strategies that will support their growth. That is what makes this work so rewarding.
I have also been fortunate to work alongside some of the most brilliant minds and innovative companies in the world. Many of them strive to tackle significant sustainability challenges and improve planetary health through advances in biotechnology. By supporting venture capitalists and early-stage companies, I help ensure that funding reaches ideas with the potential to make a lasting impact.
My purpose is grounded in my connection to nature. I draw inspiration from the natural world and want to pass that on to our children. Spending time in our California VW van, getting back to basics, helps me recharge and reconnect with what matters most. That sense of purpose drives my commitment to helping these companies protect what they are building and secure the investment they need. It is why I love going to work every day.
