With a strong background in chemistry, Mark brings in-depth technical expertise to the drafting and prosecuting of patent applications worldwide.

He is highly skilled in oral proceedings before the EPO in relation to examination, opposition and appeal proceedings, with considerable experience relating to polymers and pharmaceuticals.   

Prior to joining Potter Clarkson, Mark carried out research in dynamic combinatorial libraries based on hydrazones and is a named author on several publications in relation to this topic.



Pharmaceuticals; polymers, particularly polyethylene and catalysts for producing such polymers; as well as foodstuffs such as chocolate, fats and oils; biofuels; compositions for inhalation; general medical devices such as inhalers


Mark obtained a degree in chemistry from Sheffield University and then achieved a PhD in organic chemistry at Cambridge University.

Awards & Recognition

While at Sheffield University, Mark was awarded an Ede & Ravenscroft Prize and a Haworth Medal.  


In his free time, Mark enjoys listening to music and has an interest in literature.
