Caroline read physics at Loughborough University before joining the UK Patent Office (now the UK IPO) as a Patent Examiner handling applications in the areas of textile technologies, downhole mining and oilfield equipment and optical devices. Caroline joined Potter Clarkson in 1999 and became a partner in 2010.
Within the Designs and Engineering Group, Caroline deals with patent and design matters encompassing a number of disciplines including logistics, power distribution, automotive engineering, mining equipment and medical devices, and has continued to develop an expertise in textile technologies. In the textiles area in particular Caroline leads several of our key client teams.
As well as having extensive experience of prosecuting UK and European patent applications, and representing clients in hearings before the European Patent Office, Caroline has been involved in litigation in the UK, Canada and Australia, and has considerable experience in patent and design ownership and licence recordal issues.
In 2012 Caroline gained an LLM Masters Degree in Intellectual Property Litigation from Nottingham Law School, and has since been awarded a Higher Courts Litigation Certificate.
