Darren is an experienced and motivated UK and European Patent Attorney adept at handling a wide array of engineering inventions, ranging from hand tools to brassieres, via automotive transmissions, explosive detectors and high voltage power distribution systems. Since joining Potter Clarkson in 2002 Darren has, as a member of its Designs & Engineering Group, also amassed expertise in many textile technologies.
As well as advising clients on design matters, both registered and unregistered, Darren also tutors trainee attorneys on these aspects of intellectual property law, both within Potter Clarkson and externally.
In 2012 Darren successfully completed the Intellectual Property Litigation and Advocacy courses at Nottingham Law School to become a Patent Attorney Litigator with extensive rights of audience in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, as well as rights to conduct some litigation and appeals in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
In advance of joining Potter Clarkson, Darren was a design engineer with a leading product design consultancy in London. Prior to that Darren read engineering at Kings College, Cambridge before graduating with first class honours in Industrial Design Engineering from Brunel University. Throughout his studies Darren was sponsored by a multi-national packaging company.
In his free time Darren enjoys (responsibly) Real Ale.
